業務部長の想い
私はニュージーランド出身で、ニュージーランドとオーストラリアの公的機関で住宅支援や地域サービスの仕事に携わった後、日本に移住して20年以上が経ちます。人と向き合い、信頼関係を築き、その人に合ったサポートをする――そんな経験が、今の私の教育への考え方の基盤になっています。
長年にわたり日本で英語を教えてきた中で感じたのは、多くの学習者が「画一的な学習スタイル」に押し込められてしまっているという現実でした。でも、本当に必要なのは、その人の業界や目的、学び方のスタイルを理解してくれる先生との出会いだと思います。そうした想いから、Proactive Academyを立ち上げました。
テクノロジーが進化し、AIやアプリがあふれる今だからこそ、私は「人の力」を信じています。学習者一人ひとりと向き合い、強みを見つけ、寄り添いながら成長をサポートする。そんな本物の教師の存在が、英語学習の可能性を広げると信じています。
私自身も今も指導を続けていますが、同じ価値観を持つ優秀な講師チームを育成・マネジメントしています。医療、ホスピタリティ、観光、金融など専門性が求められる分野に対応するだけでなく、学生、主婦、社会人など、さまざまなバックグラウンドの方々をサポートしています。
私のミッションは、「本当に意味のある英語学習」を提供すること。あなたらしいペースで、あなたらしい目標に向かって進める学びを、一緒に創っていきたいと思っています。

Originally from New Zealand, I spent time working in both New Zealand and Australia before moving to Japan over 20 years ago. My background includes roles in public housing and community services, which taught me the value of listening deeply, building trust, and supporting people as individuals.
After many years of teaching English in Japan, I saw a clear gap: learners were being placed into one-size-fits-all systems—but what they truly needed was someone who understood them. Their industry. Their goals. Their way of learning. That belief is what inspired me to create Proactive Academy.
In today’s world of AI apps and instant answers, I still believe in the power of a real teacher—someone who takes the time to get to know you, encourages you, and helps you grow at your own pace. I continue to teach, but I’ve also built a trusted team of professional coaches who share this same philosophy. We specialize in high-demand fields like healthcare, hospitality, tourism, and finance, but we welcome all kinds of learners—from working parents to students and professionals starting out.
My mission is to offer human-centered English education that’s not just effective, but meaningful. A place where your learning journey is truly your own—and you’re supported every step of the way.
